Natural Attractions in La Jolla

When looking for somewhere beautiful in Southern California, there is nowhere better than La Jolla. Locals and visitors alike know that the La Jolla area features some incredible natural attractions that they can visit anytime of the year. Take a look at some of our favorites:

La Jolla Cove

The most well-known natural attraction in La Jolla is the infamous La Jolla Cove. The area is named after this incredible attraction which has been top destination within Southern California for decades. La Jolla Cove is found on the northern shore of La Jolla. It has repeatedly been reported as one of the most beautiful coastlines in all of the country. The rocky shoreline continues to be hit by powerful waves, further defining the region. If you are lucky you may even see some of the local sea lions who populate the cove. Stop by La Jolla Cove at 1100 Coast Blvd to get the true and authentic experience in La Jolla.

Windansea Beach

Everyone expects to find exceptional beauty in La Jolla and Windansea Beach is no exception. Windansea Beach is a popular with the local surfers with the calm yet adventurous waves. Local communities are stretched along the Windansea Beach with beautiful homes creating their own horizon. Windansea Beach is not your typical consumer beach and is off the beaten path, making it a true local landmark. Stroll down the beach and look out for anemones and other wildlife near the water. Windansea Beach is found at 6800 Neptune Place.

Mount Soledad

A short drive away from our vacation rentals you can find another close natural attraction, Mount Soledad. This San Diego landmark has a historical importance for the city memorializing veterans while giving visitors a panoramic view of the city. The monument originally started as a religious site but has changed over the years to now celebrate the many servicemen and servicewomen of our country. Climb up the hill and read the names inscribed into the monument or take a look around at the natural beauty that La Jolla brings to the greater San Diego area.

Safety Guidelines and Tips for COVID-19 in La Jolla

As the outbreak of the COVID-19 in La Jolla continues, many people are facing more uncertainty than ever. If you were planning on taking a trip to the beautiful San Diego seaside neighborhood of La Jolla in the future, you may be wondering what measures authorities are taking to protect and care for people in the area. This article is in response to these worries, and we are also sharing tips on what you can do yourself to prevent sickness.

Official Response

On March 12, 2020, Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer issued a State of Emergency for the City of San Diego. This action ensures the city can act swiftly and without unnecessary restriction to issue emergency contracts, if necessary, to carry out city business and help combat the spread of the virus.

Later, on March 19th, 2020, the California State Public Health Officer and Director of the California Department of Public Health ordered all individuals living in the State of California to stay home or at their place of residence, except for the needed Critical Industries, such as:

• Essential state and local government functions
• Health care providers
• Food and grocery services, including food banks, convenience stores, and take-out and delivery restaurants
• Pharmacies
• Financial institutions including banks
• Entities that provide food, shelter, social services and other necessities of life for economically disadvantaged
• Laundromats and laundry services
• Newspapers, television, radio, and other media services

This statewide order reinforces and expands upon guidance Mayor Faulconer previously put into place, such as limiting public gatherings, prohibiting the operation of bars, and requiring restaurants to only serve patrons with to-go or delivery orders. Engaging in outdoor activities as a form of exercise, such as biking, hiking and walking pets is still allowed, but with all social distancing precautions encouraged. Officials are also asking for the public to take measures to prevent the spread of this disease. Such measures include:

• Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing; going to the bathroom; and before eating or preparing food.
• Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Staying home when you are sick.
• Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Disinfecting frequently touched items and surfaces, such as doorknobs, phones, and keyboards, as frequently as possible.
• If you or your children are sick, stay home! If anyone in your household has tested positive, keep the entire household at home.

We’re in This Together

The team here at La Jolla Vacation Rentals are doing our part, cooperating with state and national guidelines, and we are offering safe-zone housing for those who are at high risk in their homes, for first responders and for healthy individuals who live in situations where social distancing is nearly impossible. We are taking extra precautions when cleaning our homes, including a very thorough disinfection process and a longer time frame between guests.

It is our sincere hope that all residents and guests stay safe and healthy as we navigate this newfound dilemma together. We know that if we work together and support our community’s fight against this outbreak, we will beat it. And when that time comes, we will be here to serve our signature hospitality to vacationers once again! Click here to browse through our stunning vacation rentals.
